Exobot launches Saudi Arabia’s first luxury electric cars
Saudi Arabia, a country whose economy has long been closely associated with oil, now has its first national car brand. Its debut will feature two electric vehicles, an SUV and a sedan.
Ceer, Saudi Arabia’s national automotive company, is owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. The two electric cars will be launched under the Exobot name.
Exobot and Saudi Arabia’s automotive transition
Saudi Arabia is entering an automotive market undergoing a profound global transformation, with China leading the shift and Europe seeking to keep pace. The move is part of the Kingdom’s effort to develop an advanced industrial sector aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The Crown Prince has said the industrial ecosystem should be “sustainable and prosperous”, while highlighting the automotive sector as an “essential engine of economic growth, through attracting investment, empowering national capabilities and strengthening the role of the private sector”.
Global industrial assets are shifting, and Saudi Arabia is positioning itself to participate in the electrification of transport.
Exobot production at a high-tech manufacturing complex
The first two models will be the Exobot SUV and Exobot Sedan, both positioned in the premium segment and each delivering more than 1,000 horsepower.
They will form part of a seven-vehicle range scheduled to be unveiled over five years. All models will be manufactured at the King Salman Automotive Manufacturing Complex in King Abdullah Economic City.
The facility is described by the Saudi Press Agency, SPA, as the largest industrial manufacturing complex in the Middle East and “one of the most advanced in the world in the automotive sector”.
Saudi Arabia’s substantial financial resources, closely linked to its oil industry, have enabled the Kingdom to develop large-scale technology and industrial projects rapidly. The broader Gulf region has undergone a similarly rapid transformation, with cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the neighbouring United Arab Emirates emerging as major technology and business hubs.
What we know about Exobot, Saudi Arabia’s first car brand
According to Ceer estimates, Saudi Arabia’s automotive industry is expected to contribute around $8 billion to GDP and create 30,000 direct and indirect skilled jobs by 2034.
PIF launched Ceer in 2022 as Saudi Arabia’s first automotive brand, and within a few years the company has developed the industrial infrastructure required to begin producing its first two vehicles.
Alongside PIF, Ceer works with Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn, technology licensed from BMW, and other major international partners including Hyundai Transys and Rimac.
The factory has a stated production capacity of around 170,000 vehicles per year, with series production expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Exobot Sedan: a high-performance luxury EV
The Exobot Sedan is a high-performance electric flagship featuring a sleek, highly aerodynamic profile. It measures 5.26 metres long, 2.10 metres wide and just 1.43 metres high.
Designed to combine speed, elegance and driving dynamics, the sedan uses a three-motor, all-wheel-drive electric powertrain producing 1,111 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.1 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h.
The vehicle features a 112 kWh battery pack based on an 800-volt architecture, providing an estimated range of up to 670 km. Ultra-fast charging can take the battery from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
Inside, the car features a 2.4-metre windscreen inclined at 15 degrees, steer-by-wire technology, gull-wing doors and a 48-inch curved panoramic display with 8K resolution.
Exobot SUV combines supercar performance with more space
The Exobot SUV uses the same modular platform and core technologies as the sedan, but packages them in a taller and more versatile body designed to provide additional interior space without sacrificing supercar-level performance.
Measuring 5.02 metres long, 2.10 metres wide and 1.69 metres high, the SUV features a spacious cabin with lower door glass offering selectable electrochromic dimming.
Its cooling system has been engineered for demanding hot-weather conditions and can reduce the cabin temperature from 65°C to 32°C in just 10 minutes.
The three-motor electric powertrain delivers up to 1,111 horsepower, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 210 km/h.
Like the sedan, it uses a 112 kWh battery pack, providing a range of up to 560 km.
